About

Curated links for swimmers
and lifesavers.

Short editor notes on articles, videos, papers, and handbooks from swim coaches, governing bodies, and researchers. Every entry points to the source. Nothing here replaces training.

What this site is uniquely for

No one else treats swimming and lifesaving as one subject. The technique coaches publish for swimmers. The lifesaving federations publish for their members. The Red Cross teaches people who want a CPR certificate. Good sites, different readers.

We read all of them, pick what is useful across the whole learning curve, and link out. The reader leaves this site and goes to the source. That is how it should work.

Who this is for

  • Adults who never learned to swim and want to start.
  • Parents supporting a child in lessons.
  • Swimmers moving from pool to open water or triathlon.
  • Competitive swimmers who want technique material that respects the variant split.
  • Lifeguards, aspiring lifeguards, and surf rescue swimmers.
  • Anyone who wants to be useful in an emergency, in water or out.

If you fit any of those, the library has a section for you. If you are not sure where to start, open the Swimming hub and find the sub-section closest to where you are now.

What we are not

This site does not teach swimming, rescue, or CPR. Those are physical skills, learned in a pool or a training room with a qualified instructor. Use the library to decide what to learn. When you are ready, Get trained lists providers by country.

Editorial principles

  • Every entry carries the name of the editor who wrote it.
  • Every entry links to the original source. We do not summarise in place of the author.
  • We prefer governing-body handbooks, peer-reviewed research, and coaches with visible athletes.
  • Lifesaving, CPR, and first-aid sources must be Red Cross, AHA, ILS, ILCOR, or an equivalent national authority.
  • If an entry is wrong, we update or remove it and leave a dated note on the page.
